In an effort to further share my photos, I've now started uploading the .ZIP files to free file sharing sites, so if you don't have an ED2K client (such as eMule), you can download some of my files from the following locations.

I will add new sites as I upload to them. Some of the files are simply too large and these sites won't accept them. To get the rest of the collections, you'll need to use and ED2K client (like eMule).

Obviously, it would be really nice for me, if you have an ED2K client, to share these files after you download them.

I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before, but I keep an eye out for people who are sharing my collections. People who are actively sharing them get preferential treatment. Basically, it works something like this:

Everyone gets up to 100MB from me no problem. People who are sharing my collections get designated as friends and travel through the queue in 1/8 to 1/10 the time of non-friends. That means, on average, you will download 8 to 10 times as much as non-friends in the same period if you're designated a friend.

People who are not designated as friends will tend to get bumped from the queue once they've passed 100MB. That means, if you've downloaded more than 100MB from me and you're not sharing my collections, you'll have to download them from someone else because you won't get much more, if any more, from me.

Now, how do I determine who's sharing? Two ways: The first is, I periodically download random samplings of my my files. Anyone who's sharing whole files (partial shares don't count) and I get an initial queue ranking of less than 5000 (queue rankings over 5000 or queue fulls don't count) becomes a friend.

Since I'm only checking a random sampling (maybe 10-15 files at a time), the more files you're sharing, the better the chance you'll be marked as a friend. If you're only sharing one or two files and they aren't the ones I check, then you won't get noticed. I do vary the files and I check once or twice a week, so if you're sharing a few, I'll probably find you eventually.

The second way I find people sharing is that once I start bumping people who have over 100MB in downloads, I first check to see if I can view their share list. If I can, then I'll check there. If they are sharing my collections (other than the ones they're actively downloading, and at least 100MB worth), then they will become friends as well and they won't get bumped.

Every several months, I clear out the friend list and start over, so the only way to stay a friend is to continue to share.

Why do I do this? Because if you're not sharing the collections then I'm better of sharing with someone who's going to help me distribute the files. In this case, it really doesn't pay to leech.

So, if you see the sole source of new collections disappearing from your list of sources, it's probably me kicking you out of my queue for not sharing.

Want to download the Pedrito collections faster? Then take a few minutes to add files from the collections to your favorite eMule/eDonkey web site. In particular, it would be nice if someone who spoke Polish would submit collections to http://www.osloskop.net and if someone who spoke Hebrew would submit collections to http://www.lionetwork.net/.

Whenever a collection gets added to one of these sites, the number of shares shoots up significantly. If you were to do this shortly before trying to download the files yourself, you would probably find that you get the files much faster yourself and in the end, you'll be helping everyone out.

If there are other sites (particularly English or Spanish speaking ones), let me know and I'll be happy to do it myself, but the above two appear to be among the most popular and will definitely give everyone the most benefit.

Personally, I think she's cute. Dorky-cute, but cute. And she was especially hot in that sheer outfit she wore to the School of Rock premiere.

It took especially long to do dupe checking on her pictures. Partly because I have so many, but also, and this is very unusual, I was getting a large number of false positives for matches with the dupe-checking software. The only thing I can figure is the glare off her teeth was confusing the software. Hey, she's got very big, very white, teeth. But she's still cute!

Seeing as how I had over a gig more HQ pictures of her, I decided it was time to release some more sets.

Sorry, I haven't had a chance to do new releases for a while. I've been really busy with work and I'm doing some painting in the house this weekend. I may be able to release some stuff tomorrow night, we'll see.

I'm also running into a disk space storage which is posing a minor problem. I should be receiving parts to build a new machine today that will be a linux based file server/router. I'm sticking 320gb in it, so that should alleviate my storage issues.

In the meantime, this I'll be able to pull more and more files offline to make room for new releases.

I haven't posted anything over the past 10 days or so. I will be releasing some new collections over the weekend, however.

A number of collections are starting to reach the "critical" mass needed so that I no longer have to share them. In the past 5 days, the number of unshared collections grew from about 5 to 20 and in the next 24 hours I suspect I'll be able to stop sharing another 5 or so.

I've also started adding the files to some ed2k index sites. This appears to be adding to the popularity quite a bit which is going to make it easier for me to start releasing new sets on a more regular basis, I hope.

If you haven't seen it yet, Google has just released version 2.0 of Picasa Photo Organizer. It's not perfect, but it has some great features and is one of the better photo organizers I've seen out there. If you have a large collection of photos and need software to keep them organized better, I suggest you give it a try.

I added one more set today of Sonia Aquino.

This is the smallest set I've done, weighing in at a mere 6.15MB. I normally try to do at least 18MB for a set. But in this case, I've collected just about every pictures of her I could find and I can't seem to find any new ones. I'm sure over the coming years more will show up.

If you haven't seen her, besides parts in 5 or 6 Italian movies, she plays Sophia Loren in "The Life and Death of Peter Sellers." She looked just like the young Sophia Loren and is simply gorgeous. I have no doubt she'll be popular with the Italian downloaders. Anyway, enjoy.

I've got a few more releases that I did over this weekend. I've been able to unshare a few more collections. The ed2khistory page has been modified to limit the number of files you can collect statistics for. According to lugdunum, my program was causing a bit too much work for the server. That kind of sucks because it was really helping me manage the releases. Anyway, I've found some alternative techniques that appear to be working pretty well, so I'm still able to increase the priority of files that are most popular pretty well.

The first release is a new set of Diane Kruger (a.k.a. Diane Heidkruëger) pictures. There are one or two alternate resolution versions of pictures from the original release, but otherwise all new pictures.

The Golden Globes pack a punch

Well, I guess with the Golden Globes just happening, a lot of people were looking for photos. My queue doubled in size really quickly early this morning. Thanks to the tools I now have, I was really able to make adjustments a couple times throughout the day to make sure I had the priorities where they needed to be, and it looks like there aren't any exceptional gaps between the partials and completes except for a couple files which I'm trying to take care of now.

And of course, I would pick a day like this to toss out 5 new collections... What can I say. With these tools, I'm not too worried anymore about not being able to keep up. I can target the voids pretty quickly now so I figured what the hell.

Everything sharing again

I've got everything sharing again, so some of the stuff people wanted but didn't have sources for, should be able to get to the sources. Between the razorback2 ed2khistory page and the program I wrote to collect that data for all of the collections, I can now get a very good pictures, right away, of which files are in demand and need higher priority. So hopefully I won't have to take so many files offline again.

According to the stats, the files where there was a huge gap (lots of people with parts but few with complete), has been filled, or at least the gap is much smaller now.

You'll have to excuse me, I'm still kind of getting the hang of this releasing stuff. It's a lot different than using eMule to download.

I'm going to start working on a modification to eMule that will let me see what collections people are sharing. This is based on an idea I saw in one of the eMule message boards. The idea is to request a download (but never actually download) and then do source exchanges with the other collections to see which ones they have shared. From that, I can get an idea based on how much they've downloaded and how much they've shared to decide whether or not to give a friend slot.

One advantage to this is I won't have to stop sharing my files while this is going on. Currently, the method for finding out who's sharing is to stop sharing my files, then try to download all the available files and see who shows up in the list. I then friend everyone sharing complete files. The technique works pretty well, but it takes time for people to show up and I have to connect to several different servers and do it over and over again to make sure I get as many people as possible.

Anyway, we'll see how things go over the next week. I've got about 6 or 7 files that just about have enough sources that I can pull them offline (I've currently got Rosario Dawson, Diane Kruger, Kate Beckinsale, and Sofia Milos offline). The more I can take offline, the easier it is to start adding new stuff. And I really have a LOT of stuff I can add.

Targetted sharing

I haven't added any new collections in a couple of days and probably won't add anymore for a few more.

I'm posting to say that, thanks to a new statistics page on razorback2, combined with some software I wrote last night, I'm much more able to figure out what people are looking for at a given time and adjust my client to better meet peoples needs. For example, it became quite obvious last night that three collections in particular were popular, but there were a lot of incomplete downloads of them. By raising the priority of those collections, I was able to fill the gap.

Now, you might be asking, why not just do a search? Doesn't eMule give you those numbers? Yes and no. Searches of the server with eMule are much less accurate than what the statistics page shows and not very useful for my needs.

The statistics page, on the other hand, is updated hourly and gives a very good picture of what people are looking for at any given moment.

It looks like I'm going to be able to stop sharing at least 3 files over this weekend, maybe more, the way things are going now. That will let me start sharing some of the ones I'm not currently sharing and eventually, I hope to have everything back online.

Pulling files

I've pulled most of the less popular files from the collection out of my share. This is a temporary move, but one I think is necessary. I'm just having a lot of trouble meeting the demand for the more popular files and I think it's keeping them from reaching the necessary critical mass needed to be self-sustaining.

There are still a good number of files shared, not to worry, and the rest will be returned a few at a time as the more popular ones reach the necessary critical mass, so don't feel that you need to delete them and if there are any particular ones that you would like to complete, ask me, and I'll put them back for a while.

Sharing Problem Resolved

Well, I found a solution to the sharing problem, or at least a partial solution. What I'm going to do from now on is periodically check to see who's sharing whole collections. Those people become friends. I'll check several times throughout the week and add those people who are sharing. Then, once a week, I'll delete the friends file and start all over.

I've also reduced the number of upload slots. This means that most of the upload slots will probably be filled by friends (people who are sharing) and that the upload speeds are up significantly. Friends can download entire files at a time, not just a chunk at a time, so they'll be getting longer sessions.

This means that non-friends are going to have singificantly longer waits in the queue. What can I say? Share the files and when I see it, I'll make you a friend. Otherwise you'll probably have to get your downloads from other people.

Really though, this should help everyone get their files faster in the long run and it should help offload some of the work from me a bit faster.

Too bad eMule doesn't have an automated way of doing this. It's certainly a good way for releasers to improve their bandwidth utilization.

I'm adding this quick update. I just did a second round of checking for people sharing complete collections (by complete collection, I mean an entire collection file, not all of the collections for a single celebrity). I'm happy to say that most of the bigger downloaders are also the biggest sharers. Thanks guys. That's really appreciated.

I'll continue to check, probably twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening (to cover all time zones), so that people I miss or new people sharing, can get added.

Hopefully this will improve the speed that the files get distributed and will again, make room for me to start adding more collections.

The sharing problem

To give you guys an idea of the problem with people not sharing, here is a sample. I just picked this file at random because I happened to be looking at the stats for it. The file in question is:

To date, I have uploaded 1.14GB of this file. The file itself is only 18.2MB. So, if you do the math, I've uploaded the equivalent of over 63 full copies of this file.

But if we go over to the stat server on razorback2, we see that, well at the time I'm posting this, there are 10 complete copies being shared and 20 incomplete copies.

Now, keep in mind, I'm not the only person sharing this file, so if you do some speculation and, let's assume that of the 10 people with complete copies being shared, they've each uploaded 1/10th of what I have of that file. That would make their total upload of the file equal to mine, meaning that there should be 126 copies of it out there. The truth is, 126 may be on the low side. But yet there are only 10 complete copies available.

I don't mean to complain, but I could release a lot more stuff if I didn't have to keep sharing this and many other files that have the same problem. But if I keep adding stuff, I won't be able to get complete files out to anyone.

Okay, I'm going to do at least 3 Anna Kournikova sets, but I've only released the first one. The main reason is I'm having enough trouble meeting the demands for the existing collections. I'm a few days away from being able to really start adding some more collections. In the meantime, this will definitely be the most popular of the three. It includes about 10 or 15 photos on the beach where she pulls her bikini bottoms open. I suppose she had sand in them or something, but the photographer had no problem getting a few good shots in.

Now, in other news, I've had a bit of a stroke of luck. I was having problems with my DSL line dropping about once a day and I got a technician to make some changes to my profile. One of the side-effects of his changes is my upstream speed is almost 50% higher than it was. I found out about this Friday afternoon, so I've been taking advantage of it since.

This couldn't have happened at a better time. I was about to go stick a computer in my cousin's house to use his DSL line to help offload some of the burden. I may still do that, but really, I'd rather have people volunteer to simply download and share these as release. If I could have several other people sharing some or all of the collections at release, 24 hours a day, it would allow me to release more stuff.

I do have one person in Italy who has so far downloaded about 1/3 of the collections and is sharing them. In return, he's got a friend slot, so he gets to download pretty much non-stop. His time through the queue is about 1-3 minutes and then he gets to download all of the chunks in one session. (BTW, if he's reading this, I'm still trying to get the Joss Stone collection together. It may take a few days. I'm having trouble finding all the pictures.)

Obviously, I have a limited number of slots where I can do that, but I'd be willing to do it for a couple more people if they'd be willing to help share these. The requirement is at least 256K upstream bandwidth on your DSL.

Maybe I shouldn't have released those sets last night. But how could I have known that I would wake up to 40 megs of HQ pictures of her St. Barts vacation? St. Barts (a.k.a. St. Barth, a.k.a. St. Barthelemy) is an island in the Caribbean, part of the French West Indies.

The Teri dilemma is in regards to Teri Hatcher pictures. I've already released 6 HQ collections of about 183 megs. I still have some 700 HQ pictures (about 900 megs). The existing collections appear to be pretty popular, but I suspect it will be a little while before I can release more.

Here's how this sort of works. I release the files. The ones that get popular end up getting enough people carrying them that I no longer have to share them. The "critical mass" appears to be about 15-20 people consistently sharing before I can stop. So far that's only happened with 3 files:

These are also, incidentally, among the ones I've shared the longest.

Rachel Weisz.207 HQ Pictures by Pedrito.zip, which have been shared almost as long as the others.

It seems that roughly 10-15% of people actually share the collections, so I have to upload an entire collection to 7-10 different people to have 1 of those consistently sharing the file. And if a file isn't shared by enough people, it seems to "die away" after a while, so I have to reach the aforementioned "critical mass" before I can stop sharing.

I'm actually surprised by the ones that have become popular. For example, by far the most popular collection is Diane Kruger who I've only seen in the movie Troy. More recently she's been in National Treasure which may be the reason she's so popular all of a sudden.

Rosario Dawson, Sofia Milos, and Kate Beckinsale have also been very popular, which is really strange because they've been far and away more popular than Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Natalie Portman, Angelina Jolie, and others I would have expected to be more popular.

Well, I'm rambling. I guess nobody has actually found their way here yet, so I'm pretty much talking to myself...

I've been busy today. My collection of Laetitia Casta photos went from about 1800 to about 4500. Needless to say, this has made the work of finding duplicates signficantly more difficult, so I've decided to simply do automated duplicate checks, meaning that there will probably be about 3-5% duplicates or more. With that many photos, it's just too difficult to do a manual duplicate check, though.

Being a software developer, it has given me an idea for a program to aid in the manual dupe check process, though. Now all I need is some time to write the software.

So, today I released a bunch of new collections which I'll list below. I did the first 3 sets of the Laetitia Casta collection, but I suspect there will be at least 12 more to come. Instead of releasing them all at once, I've decided I'll just release a few at a time. That way there won't just be tons of parts of 15 collections out there. I'll wait until a few people are sharing the first 3 and then I'll release the next 3 and continue doing that until all 15 are released.

I also released a Tricia Helfer collection. I've been wanting to put this one together for a while. It's a shame that there's so little material to work with. Being a model, I would have expected there to be a lot more photos of her. As it is, there was only enough for one collection.

And finally, I released 5 HQ collections of Courtney Peldon.

Just got back in town tonight so all the collections are again being shared on ed2k. Hope people were able to get what they wanted while I was gone, but boy my eMule client is busy fulfilling requests... Again, I urge you to share what you download to take some of the load off of my client. Many of you are sharing, and I do appreciate it, but many more people are not and that makes it harder for me to get the collections out.

By my count, I have 97 collections available on the ed2k network at this point.

Actually, there are 98 if you count the Diane Kruger.69 Hq Pictures By Pedrito.zip file, which I generally don't.

I thought I had pulled this file quick enough, but it got out and has been spreading. What can I do? My bad. By the way, don't download this file. Get Diane Kruger.85 Hq Pictures By Pedrito.zip instead because it's got the same 69, plus 16 newer files.

There's also a Laetitia Casta collection with 288 pictures that I'm almost positive never got out. Which brings me to the topic of this post which is Laetitia Casta.

This will be my largest group so far in terms of # of pictures. I am still checking the collection for duplicates and it's going to take a while, plus I have a few more new photos coming in. Obviously, being a super model, there's no real shortage of photos of Laetitia Casta. So far, I've got about 1900 pictures. I will probably end up getting rid of about 100-200 more duplicates, though that may be an over-estimate.

I have already run two programs against the collection that check for duplicates, but those programs only get the really obvious ones and they have already removed about 400 duplicates from the collection.

Manually checking a collection this large is slow and tedious. It requires breaking the collection into pieces that are small enough that I can notice the duplicates. I mean, it's really hard to look at 1800-1900 thumbnails and see duplicates. So, what I do is break them into categories: Bathing suit on beach, bathing suit non beach, runway pictures, TV captures, movie captures, magazine covers, head-shots, etc. Then, I check each group. It takes a long time simply to break it into the different categories, let alone checking them all for duplicates, so please be patient.

Also, since I'm on vacation for a few days, it'll be early January that these get released.

Also scheduled for release in early January are Josie Maran and Samaire Armstrong.

Okay, so I've been posting collections of celebrity photos on the ed2k network and figured it would be a good idea to do a blog for a few things. One, it would give people a place to comment and provide suggestions. For example, am I letting too many dupes get through? Are there celebrities you'd like to see?

Also, some people may want explanations for certain things like confusion on the naming conventions (some of which is explained in the more recent readme files).

If you found yourself here by accident and you want to get hold of these celebrity photo collections, the easiest thing is to simply do a search with an eMule or eDonkey client for: pictures pedrito

That should return most, if not all, of the collections.

My connection is maxed out sharing my stuff and it would really take a load off my connection if people would share more. Also, it would allow me to provide a higher priority to the stuff that isn't shared by many people.

This is a list of questions and answers about the collections.

Q: Where do you get all the pictures?
A: I get them from all over. Mostly web pages and usenet newsgroup. None of the web sites I get them from are pay web sites. Everything I get, I get for free (if you don't count the cost of having an NNTP[usenet] provider).

Q: How many photos do you have?
A: I have no idea. I have hard drives from old, dead, computers filled with them, that I haven't touched in a couple years. I don't even know if the hard drives still work. I've just been collecting celebrity photos for a long time. I actually plan on connecting all those drives to a new computer soon and writing all those pictures off to DVD.

Q: Why do you do this?
A: Why do people collect stamps or comic books? It's something to do that doesn't require a great deal of brain power. My brain gets overworked from my job. This is a nice, monotonous, very automatic, kind of thing to do, like a lot of the simpler hobbies. In other words, it's a way to relax. As for why I share them, I don't really know. I just had all these photos and figured, "What the hell?"

Q: Do you have pictures of celebrity XYZ?
A: Post a comment to the most recent posts in the blog and ask. If I have it, I'll post it. If I don't, I'll take a look around and see if I can get it. I still have most of my stuff on another computer that isn't hooked up at the moment, though every day there's a chance I may gather the strength to actually plug it in.

Q: What's with all those files labeled pd_Celebrity_Name_
A: A lot of files I find come in numerical series like, 001.jpg, 002.jpg, 003.jpg. When you run into two sets that have the same name, problems arise. I try to group the ones I get from the same place using the same letter, so pd_Celebrity_Name_a_*.jpg and pd_Celebrity_Name_b_*.jpg probably came from different sources or from the same source at different times.
